Artist of the Month: T.Evin$
Our featured artist for the month of March is Tevin Alston aka T.Evin$. An avid rapper and musician, T.Evin$ recently came out with his new album: Revenge. Revenge is Alston’s second album and is his way of making peace with the past and moving forward.
He says, “This album represented the dark to the light and me moving past the things that I let linger and hold me back in the past from moving forward. I feel like as humans we are all conflicted with these thoughts, as we are learning something new about ourselves every day. Sometimes it’s best to let the past be the past because you never know what good you might be missing out on around the corner.”
When it comes to T.Evin$’s love for music, he was first inspired by his father who was a DJ when Alston was growing up. Along with that, he also cited performers such as Chris Brown, Destiny’s Child, Fat Joe and Jay Z, all of whom he got to see in concert as being some of his musical inspirations.
When asked about the message T.Evin$ aims to spread through his music, he says, “ I think the message that I want push in my music is to just be yourself. Like I have to remind myself of that all the time. Embrace the things you can’t change and change the things you can. I see the world in a very realistic manner so I want people to learn from my experiences and touch people with my music in the most inspirational way possible. That’s the message I want to send.
Alston has been with Erace the Hate since 2014. He was involved in many of the organization’s community events. He says, “I think what appeals to me the most is the non-stop effort to push a positive message. I feel like today we get pushed so much negative content that it’s becoming harmful. It’s good to see Erace The Hate doing the opposite.”
