Let’s Finish What We Started | Reclaim The Dream

This post is dedicated to reclaiming the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and was inspired by his last speech, “I Have Been to The Mountaintop” which can be heard in its entirety on YouTube at this link All blocked quotes are his word.

 

Men for years now have been talking about war and peace. But now no longer can they just talk about it. It is no longer the choice of nonviolence or violence in this world. It is nonviolence or nonexistence.

The energy of love is more powerful than the energy of hate. Bombs and bullets may destroy bodies, but they cannot destroy spirits and they cannot destroy love because love is energy. And love, just like energy cannot be destroyed or created. It just is. It creates where there is nothing. It shines even in the darkness. It overcomes all man-made destruction because it is not of man, it is of something greater.

In the human rights revolution if something isn’t done and done in a hurry to bring the colored peoples of the world out of the long years of poverty, their long years of hurt and neglect, the whole world is doomed. 

We are all God’s children, created by the same creator of the universe, sharing in its existence. We are human beings and the being that holds itself accountable for all aspects of its existence without expecting anything from anyone will always be in control. Revolution starts within.  No man or entity can enslave another without some form of permission. The key to freedom is to open yourself up to the fact that you, yourself define your freedom. The first step towards freedom is deciding to be free. We must place more power on the God within to reclaim power from men who wish to keep men without.  #BlackLivesMatter because there is power in Blackness. There is power in pride. There is power in a history that can be claimed as one of overcoming adversity instead of enslavement and oppression. We have the power to define the narrative of history.

And I knew that as they were sitting in, they were really standing up for the best in the American Dream and taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy, which were dug deep by the founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness
We have reached a point in history where it is time for the people to reclaim their place in it.  When a government reaches the point where it would rather claim the political power instead of the power of the people that maintain its existence, the people must rise up to claim what is rightfully theirs. This land is our land. The government is for the people and by the people. Let’s #ReclaimMLK and finish what was started. There’s way more to his legacy than one yearly day of service. We must earn freedom for all peoples and this works happens daily.

And if you didn’t see it last night, make sure you check out the State of the Union as the First Black President of these United States of America, President Barack Obama, rolls out a plan to protect the American Dream for ALL of its people, and not just the wealthy few. Let’s finish what was started.
